The Margaret McNamara Educational Grants (MMEG)
Margaret McNamara Educational Grants provide scholarships to women from developing and middle-income countries who are pursuing higher education with a commitment to improving the lives of women and children. Established in 1981, MMEG primarily supports students who intend to return to their home countries to contribute to community development and social progress.
For the 2025 cycle, eligible applicants must be at least 25 years old and must be nationals from Margaret McNamara Educational Grants MMEG-eligible countries. The Margaret McNamara Educational Grants scholarships are available for women studying in the United States, Canada, or at selected institutions in South Africa and Latin America. In the U.S. and Canada program, awards can reach up to $15,000, whereas grants for African and Latin American programs are generally around $7,000
The deadline for the 2025 MMEG U.S. and Canada applications is January 15, 2025. Eligibility requirements include being enrolled in an accredited institution and planning to stay enrolled for a full academic term post-award. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate a commitment to returning to or remaining in their home country or another developing nation to work in fields that support women and children’s welfare
